I found this amazing recipe for plum jam that I just had to share with all of you! It's seriously one of the best jams I've ever had and it's made from delicious fresh plums. The best part is, it's super easy to make and you don't need any special equipment. Follow along and try it out for yourself!
Fresh Plum Jam Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 pounds fresh plums, pitted and chopped
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
First, combine all the ingredients in a large saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once it's boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
While it's cooking, start preparing your jars for canning. Make sure they're clean and sterilized before use. Once the jam has finished cooking, remove it from the heat and let it cool for about 5 minutes before ladling it into the prepared jars.
Instructions for Canning Plum Jam:
- Fill a large pot with enough water to cover the jars and bring it to a boil.
- Gently place the filled jars into the boiling water and let them process for about 10 minutes.
- Remove the jars from the water and let them cool on a wire rack. Once they're completely cool, check the seals to make sure they're tight.
- Store the jam in a cool, dark place for up to a year.
This spiced plum jam is perfect on toast, in yogurt, or even as a topping for ice cream. It's got a deliciously sweet and slightly tart flavor with just the right amount of warm spices to make it extra special. Trust me, you won't be able to get enough of it!
